Girl Scouts from Troop 30976 completed 11 bat houses that have been placed within Stella Maiese (5) and Peter Volpa (6) parks. These bat houses were put up to help control the mosquito population, and to provide bats with a home. The Brown Bat has recently become endangered because of White Nose Syndrome, a fungus on top of their nose that makes them stay awake during hibernation, causing them to die of starvation.
